Job Description:
The Transition manager is accountable for new work transition performance. This position requires skill in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues, as well as demonstrated creativity, vision and mature judgment in anticipating/resolving complex issues. The Transition Manager is required to ensure all quality requirements are satisfactorily completed through-out the transition process.
The TM leads multiple supplier transition projects that are focused on reducing risk of poor quality or late delivery to customers due to supplier performance. This will be accomplished by assuring supplier process controls and eliminating waste in supplier processes using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools. The TM is responsible for training and mentoring junior TMs in the group. Candidate works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. This person also exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. The TM engages internal and external contacts in regard to company plans and objectives and determines methods and procedures on new assignments. This person provides technical and project/program guidance to other personnel.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
?Interfaces with Supplier Quality, Global Sourcing and Site Integrated Supply Chain (Procurement / Quality, Manufacturing / Engineering) groups to develop and execute supplier development plans to achieve world-class performance in the supply chain.
?Leads formal project assessments and develops project plans. Determines appropriate application of process improvement techniques such as variation reduction, lean, black belt, and other tools to maximize results.
?Develops partner style relationships with suppliers and up-front agreements on supplier commitment, projects, timing and measurement of results. Manages all phases of the project lifecycle.
?May be responsible for confirming team compliance to tracking and monthly status reports of Supplier Projects.
?Represents supplier performance improvement projects to *** customers.
?May be responsible for functional or direct leadership, training, and mentoring
?May be responsible for directing Supplier Transition associates as required in planning supplier engagements, updating team calendar and management of Supplier Transition QuickPlace website.
?May be assigned to act as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules, resolve technical problems, develop and administer schedules and performance.
?Engages other *** processes or departments as required to resolve barriers.
?Responsible to support commodity hardware transitions, the supplier rationalization process/sourcing plans and the development/implementation of supplier quality improvement plans.
?Responsible to facilitate and/or support transition Phase Gate TAC reviews.
?Provide technical support to our customers during launch of new or transitioned product.
?Travel is required 40% in Asian Region
Experience/Education Required:
?Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials, Supply Chain, Management, or Business required.
?the candidate must have 7-10 years of directly related work experience in at least 2 of the 4 following areas: Manufacturing/Assembly Operations, Quality, Engineering (Design or Manufacturing), Materials/Procurement
Attributes/Skills Required:
?Candidate must have the ability to lead / mentor teams, with a track record of coming through on commitments. The candidate must be skilled in leadership, mentoring, training, persuasion and negotiation of critical issues, as well as demonstrated creativity, vision and mature judgment in anticipating / resolving complex issues.
?Certified Green Belt, Lean Expert/Black Belt preferred. If not, at least Green Belt certified in one year.
?Advanced level of experience with *** Aerospace products or related products and customers preferred.
?A Professional Certification (ASQ-CQE and CQA) required. Equivalent RAB qualification accepted.
?Program management certification (PMI) preferred.
?Additional experience or training in RCCA, ESD, Blue Print reading & GDT, NDE/NDT, IPC610, APQP/PPAP, Capacity Assessment and *** eCATS is preferred.
?A comprehensive knowledge of Quality Assurance Engineering and practices applicable to the manufacture of aerospace products including regulatory, military, commercial, and industry/customer standards (i.e., ISO9001-2000, AS9100B) is preferred.
?Demonstrated program management skills with large/complex project experience as either leader or with accountability for tasks.
?Experience in leading multiple teams focused on problem solving and driving supplier improvements using Six Sigma Plus tools.
?Demonstrated bias for action and initiative, creative problem solving, customer-focused perspective and a capability to work in a team environment.
?Advanced interpersonal and communication skills are required to handle difficult situations as well as to diffuse escalated interpersonal conflict effectively.
?Strong problem solving and analytical ability to evaluate and identify appropriate alternative courses of action for definition and resolution of unusual or complex problems.
?Ability to mentor and coach suppliers to mitigate areas requiring improvement.
?Capable of working effectively with suppliers and stakeholders around the world. Supports sourcing for quality to manufacture, deliver products and services efficiently/effectively globally.
?Understands commercial, legal, financial and human resource systems in countries where the business operates.
?Comprehensive knowledge of project management, six sigma, and lean problem solving.
?Ability to provide a clear vision of the Supplier Transition strategy and processes for internal teams and suppliers.
?Exceptional negotiation skills and experience in developing win-win relationships with suppliers. Knowledge and experience in manufacturing costs, ability to document baselines and results to ensure impact of improvement efforts on customer.
?Demonstrated ability to function and organize with minimal direct management supervision
